It has always been my dream to be a psychiatrist. My desire to be a pyschiatrist came from growing up and watching several of my family member’s suffer from mental disorders. It has always been heartbreaking to watch. There is nothing worst than watching someone you love suffer internally because of a chemical imbalance. It has often broken my heart to hear people refer to those with mental illnesses as being crazy or “having loosed screws” because they don’t get it. They don’t get that every day is a struggle for these people. They don’t get that it’s something that they can’t control and we can blame most of these misconceptions on the entertainment industry.
You see entertainment industry has made having mental illness a scary thing and while it’s unfair it has placed a stigma in American society that I am afraid will never be broken. Recently, I spoke with my guidance counselor who shared with me that perhaps I should try to go into counseling and while it made perfect sense for me I had a hard time with figuring out just how I would pay for college until my teacher introduced me to a scholarship by Keith and Keely Mann.
If you are unfamiliar with the Manns family you won’t be unfamiliar for long. Keith Mann is the founder and CEO of Dynamic Search Partners (DSP) and specialize in the search executive world. They are dedicated to helping identify some of the nation’s best and brightest leaders.
